LONG ISLANDS A small island, 82-km from
Port Blair, its welcoming evergreen forests, sandy beaches and clean,
unpolluted atmosphere makes it a popular destination.
Served by only to boats per week from the capital (usually Wednesday &
Saturday), and two daily lumber launches from Rangat, it sees far fewer
visitors than either Neill or Havelock, but boasts a couple of excellent
beaches, at Marg Bay and Lalaji Bay, both of which are most easily reached
by chartering a fisherman's dinghy from the jetty. The later beach is
earmarked as the sight of a new ANIIDCO Yatri Niwas. This is a good island
to head for if one wants to side-step the hordes at Havelock , but don't
have time to tackle the long trip north.
HOW TO GET THERE

weekk to reach Long Islands.
